Physical therapy students offer MS screenings once a month

Students in the Department of Physical Therapy, in conjunction with the Delaware chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society conducted physical and functional evaluations in the Physical Therapy Clinic in Room 053 of McKinly Laboratory during September.

Ken Seaman, coordinator for physical therapy clinical internships and instructor, performed the evaluations with the help of physical therapy graduate students.

According to Seaman, his hope is to provide a much- needed service to individuals who often suffer unwarranted loss of function simply because they have not received timely evaluations.

He said he also wanted to use the screenings as an opportunity to train future physical therapists who will become well-versed in working with this disease.

The free public screening clinic will be held once a month.
