Outstanding on and off the ice as a competitive skater and honor student at Queen Anne's County High School in Maryland, freshman Larisa Cherewko (center) received a $4,000 scholarship check from the Ice Skating Institute (ISI) of America Education Foundation. The check was presented by Jeffrey Doucette, ice arenas, who serves on the ISI board of directors, while Tzera Motkowski, coordinator of community classes, looks on. Cherewko, who was a Maryland Distinguished Scholar and a winner of the Johns Hopkins University Academic Talent Award, is enrolled in the UD Honors Program and said she plans to major in biochemistry for a career in medical research. She is continuing her skating as a member of the Skating Edge, the UD ice arena senior team, and the Precisionaires, the college team.
