James Newton, Black American Studies Program, will receive the 1999 Christi Award of the Christina Cultural Arts Center Oct. 19. The award pays tribute to "the creativity and expression vision of Delaware's art community." On Oct. 24, he also will be honored by the NAACP, Wilmington chapter, with its education award.

James K. Broomall, continuing education, will receive an award of excellence Oct. 7 from the University Continuing Education Association, Region II, for his program, Institute for Academy Management.
