Francis J. Doyle receives 2000 ASEE teaching award

Francis J. Doyle, chemical engineering, has been selected to receive the 2000 W. Fahien Award, given by the Chemical Engineering Division of the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) for outstanding teaching effectiveness and educational scholarship in the first 10 years as a faculty member. The award, consisting of a plaque and a $1,500 stipend, will be presented at a June ASEE meting in St. Louis.

Doyle has received several honors for his teaching during his career, including the Purdue University Teachers for Tomorrow Award, the ASEE Outstanding Teacher Award for Illinois/Indiana, the Purdue student chapter of Tau Beta Pi Dean Marion B. Scott Exemplary Character Award, the R.N. Shreve Prize, a chemical engineering teaching award and the A. A. Potter Award in engineering teaching.

Doyle also developed the Purdue Control Modules software for undergraduate process control education.

In addition, Doyle was the recipient of a National Science Foundation National Young Investigator Award.
