Sign up for 'Arrival Survival'

It's time to sign up for the Arrival Survival Team, to welcome new and transfer students to campus by helping them to move into their rooms on New Student Check-In Day, from 8 a.m.-4 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 26.

Faculty, staff, students and alumni are all invited and encouraged to to become AST members, according to Susan Martin, residence life, who is coordinating the program. "Being welcomed and assisted by team members gets new students off to a good start, and both students and parents appreciate the friendliness and help they receive on this important first day of college,"

Last fall, 550 volunteers served on the team.

All areas of campus will be served, and shifts are three hours long. In addition to luggage luggers, some lobby greeters are needed. Students who are AST members may check in to their permanent fall room assignments, from 6-9 p.m., Wed., Aug. 23, and there is no charge for early check-in unless they fail to work their shift.

The deadline for students to sign up is July 17. Resident students may pick up forms from their hall directors through the end of spring semester.

For information or to obtain a registration form, call 831-8423 or visit the web site at [http://www.udel.edu/reslife/ astweb.html} where team members may register online.
