"Even though the program will not begin until October, we wanted to make faculty and staff aware of the program now so they could plan accordingly," University Executive Vice President David Hollowell, said. The ECPP offers an opportunity for faculty and staff to replace an older computer or to make a first-time purchase. Full-time employees will be able to purchase $500 to $4,000 of eligible hardware and software and can choose either a 5 percent cash discount (no credit cards) or interest-free financing through payroll deduction. Using a special UD web site, employees will be able to purchase a system from Gateway or Apple Computer. Participants will be able to choose a pre-configured "bundle" (software and hardware) or place a custom order. When the program begins, the Technology Solutions Center (TSC) will have demonstration equipment from both vendors on display in 002 Smith Hall. Even though TSC staff are always available to answer questions about purchasing a computer (831-8895, [tsc-info@udel.edu]), extra staff will be on duty while the ECPP is in progress. As more information becomes available, it will be published in UpDate and on the web at [http://www.udel.edu/ecpp/]. |
