Donna Tuites named new FSAP counselor

Donna Tuites, who has worked as program coordinator and assistant director of the Office of Women's Affairs for 15 years, has joined the staff of the Faculty and Staff Assistance Program (FSAP).

In her new position, she assists Cecily Sawyer Harmon in providing assessment, short-term counseling and referral for faculty and staff. She also develops and facilitates educational and therapeutic groups and offers professional and personal development programs, involving such areas as self-esteem, stress management, workplace violence and grief and loss. In addition, she presents programs to the University community about FSAP services and how to identify troubled employees- those who may be experiencing problems related to family and relationship issues, alcohol and drug abuse, stress and anxiety or work-related issues.

Tuites currently facilitates a recovery support group for employees who have had substance abuse problems. Tuites has a bachelor's degree in sociology from UD and a master's degree in counseling and guidance from West Virginia University. She has more than 20 years of counseling, program development and social service experience. Before joining the University staff, she held a number of social service positions in West Virginia and Delaware and worked in the areas of domestic violence and sexual assault, the criminal justice system and women's health.
