Geis Conference set April 27

The Geis Student Research on Women Conference, a program to provide recognition of student excellence in research, will be held from 9:45 a.m.-3 p.m., Thursday, April 27, in Rooms 209 and 211 Trabant University Center.

The program will begin with a welcome from Judith Gibson, assistant vice president for affirmative action and multicultural programs.

The sessions will focus on social issues and the humanities. Each presentation will be 15 minutes, followed by a five-minute discussion.

After a reception and refreshments for participants and the audience at 3 p.m., the graduate and undergraduate winners will be announced.

Presentations will focus on such topics as " 'Wild, Wearable and Seeworthy': The Expression of Cultural Constructs and Taboos through Women's Bathing Suits, 1950 to 1980" and "Depression: A Woman's Disease?".

The conference is sponsored by the Office of Women's Affairs and the Women's Studies Interdisciplinary Program in cooperation with the Commission on the Status of Women and the Office of the President.
