According to Joyce Henderson, recruitment and employment and organizer of the event, "Low unemployment rates have resulted in small search pools making it more difficult to find qualified applicants to fill positions. This job fair is designed to help the University stay proactive and attract a diverse and productive workforce." "The job fair offers a unique opportunity for those in the job market to learn about the wide range of employment opportunities at the University of Delaware, and about our competitive salary and benefits," Vice President for Administration Maxine Colm, said. Henderson said the University is interested in attracting individuals to the fair who are beginning their careers as well as those who already are in the job market. A full range of positions will be discussed, including full- and part-time, summer or temporary employment. In addition to spreading the word about the job fair through press releases and advertisements on radio and in newspapers, Henderson said UD has sent posters announcing the fair to 175 local organizations, including churches, colleges and universities. Units that will be represented at the job fair include the colleges of Arts and Science, Health and Nursing Sciences, and Human Resources, Education and Public Policy; offices reporting to the University treasurer; continuing education; media services; public safety; transportation; Facilities; Information Technologies/User Services; Dining Services; Conference Services; English Language Institute; University Development; Student Health Services; University Bookstore; Benefit Services; training and career development; and hotel and restaurant management. As a special incentive, those attending the event will participate in a raffle to win a weekend for two at the University's Virden Center Conference Facility in Lewes. "The University of Delaware is one of the region's leading employers," Henderson said. "We enjoy an intellectually stimulating and diverse environment, an excellent benefit programincluding tuition remission, training and career development opportunitiesand an outstanding library with the latest in electronic resources. We have a supportive work environment. In fact, we have been designated as an 'employee friendly institution' by the College and University Personnel Association."
