| Graduate programs in chemical engineering and physical therapy drew top standings from U.S. News & World Reports new rankings of Americas best graduate schools, released March 31.
The magazines April 10 issue contains rankings for select graduate disciplines. UD programs ranked this year included chemical engineering, ranked ninth; and physical therapy, tied for ninth with Beaver College, MGH Institute of Health Professions and Northwestern University. The College of Engineerings graduate program was ranked 47th, tying with the University of New Mexico. The masters program in nursing ranked 70th, tying with the City University of New York/Hunter College, California State University at Los Angeles, Creighton University, Kent State University, the State University of New York at Stony Brook and the universities of Connecticut, Louisville, Missouri at Kansas City, New Mexico, San Francisco and Tennessee at Knoxville. U.S. News bases its rankings on entering students test scores, faculty/student ratios and reputation ratings drawn from both inside and outside academia. According to the editors, rankings are one of many important criteria students should consider in selecting a graduate school, along with personal academic and professional ambitions, financial resources and scholastic record, as well as a schools size, atmosphere and location. |
