| Jean H. Futrell, professor emeritus of chemistry and biochemistry, and currently director of the Environmental Molecular Sciences Laboratory at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in Richland, Wash., received the year 2000 Award for Outstanding Scientific Achievement from the organizers of the Symposium on Atomic, Molecular and Surface Physics (SASP), held in Folgaria, Italy.
Futrell received the Erwin Schrödinger Gold Medal and a certificate citing his outstanding contributions to the field of mass spectrometry and its applications to ion-molecule reactions. Chartered in 1976 to encourage international communication and collaborations among theoretical and experimental atomic and molecular physicists, SASP holds conferences, by invitation only, in Europe every two years. |
