Award, grants deadlines set

The Commission on the Status of Women and the Office of Women’s Affairs are seeking nominations for the E. Arthur Trabant Award for Women’s Equity and applications for Student Travel Awards, Special Travel Awards and the Visiting Women Scholars Fund. The E. Arthur Trabant Award for Women’s Equity is given to an individual, department, administrative unit or committee that has made an exceptional contribution to equity for women at the University. “Contribution” is broadly defined, but may include developing exemplary programs or curricula, implementing innovative policies and procedures related to women’s equity or enhancing existing services to women. The deadline for nominations is Friday, April 7, and the award will be presented at a luncheon ceremony, Friday, May 12. The Student Travel Award and the Special Travel Award for faculty and staff require a departmental match and are available to women whose research is in any area or to men whose research involves women’s issues. The awards support travel to present scholarly papers, participate in panel discussions at a conference or a comparable activity. The deadline for spring semester applications is Monday, April 3. The Visiting Women Scholars Fund is a matching fund, designed to assist departments in bringing women scholars to campus. There is a rolling deadline for grants; each application is evaluated when it is received.
