Ag Day plant preview March 30

The University’s annual Ag Day is scheduled for Saturday, April 29. Those interested in getting a preview of the plants that will be offered for sale are invited to a slide-show preview, scheduled from 7–9 p.m., Thursday, March 30, at the Girl Scout building, 501 South College Ave.

The oakleaf hydrangea, described by UD horticulture professor John Frett as “a garden gem,” is the featured plant for the UD Botanic Gardens (UDBG) sale 2000. Frett said that the oakleaf hydrangea has gained in popularity because it is easy to grow and offers multiple seasons of display.

The UDBG’s extensive plant sale list also offers hard-to-find perennials and native plants, including a variety of ferns, hollies, hostas and trees. The slide-show is free and open to the public. Horticulture experts will be on hand to answer questions, and refreshments will be served.
