Provost Mel Schiavelli has reconstituted the search committee to find a new dean for the College of Engineering. It is hoped the new dean will begin duties on campus next fall. The initial search for a replacement for former dean Stuart Cooper did not yield a successful candidate, Schiavelli said.
Daniel Rich, dean of the College of Human Resources, Education and Public Policy, is chairing the new committee.
Andras Szeri, mechanical engineering chairperson and Robert L. Spencer Professor of Mechanical Engineering, will continue to serve as interim dean.
"The committee has begun its work," Schiavelli said, "and I expect that candidates will visit the campus before the end of the spring semester. I encourage members of the faculty to nominate qualified internal and external candidates for this important position."
Other members of the reconstituted search committee are Sandra Carberry, computer and information sciences; Frank Doyle, chemical engineering; Guang Gao, electrical and computer engineering; Larry Griffith, admissions; George Hadjipanayis, Richard B. Murray Professor of Physics and Astronomy; Ian Hall, materials science and mechanical engineering; Nobuhisa Kobayashi, civil and environmental engineering; Donald Sparks, Alumni Distinguished Professor of Plant and Soil Sciences; and Jack Vinson, H. Fletcher Brown Professor of Mechanical Engineering.
Individuals with recommendations or questions should contact Rich at 831-2396 or via e-mail at <Daniel.rich@ mvs.udel.edu>.
