| The Delaware Mentoring Council is seeking community leaders with an interest in youth issues and mentoring to attend a statewide summit the spring. The deadline for nominating a delegate is March 1.
Delaware Mentoring Council Summit 2000: Your Community Making A Difference, will be held May 5 at Delaware Technical & Community Colleges Terry Campus in Dover. The summit is designed to assess the need for and availability of mentors in Delaware and to rally community leaders to increase mentoring opportunities in their communities. Ministers or youth leaders of local churches, retired business people, service club presidents or members, community activists for children, educators and town officials all could make strong delegates. Delegations will make a commitment to bring mentoring to more children in their communities, and will work toward that goal during the summit and throughout the year. To nominate a delegate or learn more about Summit 2000, contact Trish Flatley at the Delaware Mentoring Council, located at UD, at 831-0520. The one-day conference is sponsored by Gov. Thomas Carper, the Delaware Mentoring Council and the Division of State Service Centers, state Office of Volunteerism. Beth Thomas |
