Hoerl Award deadline
March 3 for statistical methods entries

The Delaware chapter of the American Statistical Association is holding its fourth annual competition for the Arthur E. Hoerl Meritorious Student Paper Award with a cash prize of $300. The competition is open to students in any accredited graduate program in the state of Delaware; Chester and Delaware counties and the city of Philadelphia in Pennsylvania; and Camden, Gloucester and Salem counties in New Jersey. Submissions should present an interesting application of existing or new statistical methods or the development of a new method. Submissions are due by 4 p.m., March 3, or must be postmarked no later than March 1. They should be sent to Carmen Traxler, chairperson of the Hoerl Awards Committee, STAT-TRAX, Inc., 1221 Brook Drive, Wilmington, DE 19803. The award honors the late Arthur E. Hoerl, a professor of statistics at UD, and prior to that, a senior consultant at the DuPont Co. He was a fellow of the American Statistical Association.
