Men's and women's basketball
teams ready to open season

Now is the time for all good fans to cheer the Fightin' Blue Hen hoopsters as the exciting 1999-2000 basketball season begins. The women's basketball team, coached by Tina Martin, will be led by All-America East selections Danielle Leyfert and Cindy Johnson. The team begins its season against Monmouth College at 7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 19, at The Bob. Other 1999 games are Princeton University (home), 5:30 p.m., Nov. 23, Lafayette College (away), 5:45 p.m., Nov. 29, University of South Florida Tournament (away), time to be announced, Dec. 3 and 4, University of Vermont (away), 7:30 p.m. Dec. 9, Hartford University (away), 7 p.m., Dec. 11, Delaware State University (away), 2 p.m., Dec. 18, Morgan State University (home), 5 p.m., Dec. 20 and St. Francis College, Pa. (home), 7 p.m., Dec. 29. The men's basketball team holds two straight America East titles and is coached by Mike Brey. America East Player of the Year Mike Pegues and America East Tournament Most Valuable Player John Gordon will return to the Blue Hens this season. The opening game will be against George Mason University at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 23, at The Bob. Other 1999 games are American University (home), 7:30 p.m., Nov. 27, Rider College (away), 7:30 p.m. Nov. 29, Colgate University (home), 7:30 p.m., Dec. 2, Delaware State University (away), 2 p.m., Dec. 4, University of Vermont (home), 1 p.m., Dec. 11, Howard University (home), 7:30 p.m., Dec. 21 and Fiesta Bowl at Arizona, time to be announced, Dec. 28 through 30. Individual and ticket packages are available, including season tickets, hoop groups for 25 or more persons and family four pack for new buyers only.
