Tune in for weather-related
work schedule changes

When severe weather strikes the Delaware Valley, University employees and students have several options to find out if there are late openings, early closings or cancellations at the University.

Information will be available from:

  • local radio stations (see list);
  • student voice-mailboxes;
  • Channel 2 on the UDTV cable system;
  • the University's main phone number, 831-2000;
  • UD1-HENS, under the listing of the day's events;
  • the World Wide Web at UDaily, the University's daily information web page at <http://www.udel.edu/ udaily>, and the Announcements page at <https://www.mis3. udel.edu/servlet/ announcements/>; and
  • computing system announcements on UNIX e-mail.

Each department also will be contacted by Human Resources using a telephone tree.

Members of the campus community are asked to not call the Department of Public Safety so that telephone lines there can remain open for emergency calls.

According to Vice President Maxine Colm, administration, the University's policy is to remain open whenever possible during extreme weather conditions.

If no formal announcement of closing, late opening or early dismissal is made, employees who decide for personal reasons not to report or to leave early must take vacation time or leave without pay.

Employees in essential positions are required to report to work during extreme weather conditions.

These employees will be designated by their directors in Dining Services, Facilities Management, Residential and Conference Facilities, Student Health Services, Public Safety and Information Technologies.
