Parking lot gets new look

A new landscape screen with varieties of flowering cherry trees, oriental spruce and evergreen viburnums will be planted to replace the original screen of hemlock trees along Orchard Road, near the Amy E. du Pont Music Building.

The hemlocks, which are no longer effective in screening the lot because of thinning and loss of lower branches, are being removed.

According to Tom Taylor, Facilities, the new plantings will provide more spring flowering interest and will complement the recently planted islands in the parking lot. In time, they will provide a plant screen along Orchard Road.

Groundcover among the plants and sod along the inside edge will complete the project.
