Praria Stavis-Hicks, graduate studies, has been appointed assistant to the vice president for student life and coordinator of graduate student life.
She will manage operations in the Office of the Vice President for Student Life and serve as an adviser on policy and budget issues to student life departments, including career services, counseling and student development, the dean of students office, residence life, Student Health Services, Student Services for Athletes and the University centers.
She also will be responsible for defining, developing and incorporating new initiatives for graduate student life.
She joined UD in 1990 as administrator for graduate admissions, becoming associate director for graduate admissions in 1996.
Stavis-Hicks received her bachelor's degree in sociology from the University of Connecticut, her master's degree in public administration from the University of Pittsburgh and her doctorate in higher education management from the University of Pennsylvania.
