CTE announces 15 new Instructional Improvement Grants

The Center for Teaching Effectiveness has awarded 15 Instructional Improvement Grants for 1999-2000 to provide seed funding for faculty instructional projects that significantly enhance aspects of teaching and learning at the departmental and college levels.

In addition, CTE has joined with PRESENT (Practical Resources for Educators Seeking Effective New Technologies), a faculty teaching and technology center, in a pilot project that provides student technology assistants to 11 faculty members.

Under the CTE/PRESENT pilot project, student technology assistants will work one-on-one with the faculty members in applying technology to their courses. CTE administers the grant process while the PRESENT staff manages and trains the student assistants. The faculty members receiving grants of student time for course development projects include Christie, Huddleston, McLane, Perry, Wang and Worley. Others receiving the grants are David Barlow, health and exercise sciences; Christine Kydd and John Sawyer, both business administration; Charles Link, economics; and Pamela Plotkin, entomology and applied ecology.
