UD employees invited to ’Go Gold’ for fitness

4:18 p.m., July 2, 2008--Celebrate the Olympic spirit by being more physically active this summer and register for the "Go Gold" fitness challenge sponsored by UD's Employee Wellness Center. Registration continues through Friday, July 25.

Participants will receive a logbook and activity stickers to track their progress, as well as daily e-mails with Olympics information and fitness tips. The goal is to accumulate 20 or more stickers throughout the month of August by recording dedicated exercise minutes.

Employees will also have a chance to win weekly prizes by submitting answers related to contest activities.

Cost of the program is 10 Wellness Dollars and employees returning their completed log in addition to achieving their goal will receive a gold medal.

Torch-making contest

In keeping with the Summer Olympics theme, the Employee Wellness Center also is sponsoring a torch-making contest. All entries will be judged by a panel on Tuesday, July 29, and the winning torch will be carried across campus during the special "Go Gold" kick-off celebration at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 31.

Groups of 3-5 employees can create a torch by using materials representing their specific department or unit or their UD spirit. All torches will be returned to the creators after the program is complete. Torch entries must be received by the Employee Wellness Center by Friday, July 24.
