This was the top and most coveted award at the meeting, according to Robin Moore, senior director of dining operations at UD.
Bogan and her team were praised by Eastern Region Vice President Barbara Timm-Brock, who stated that “Sue's team was able to embrace the changing times in the University's administration and mounted a multi-faceted engagement process.
“The team built relationships with any and all student groups possible. Dining Services collaborated with several departments to sponsor RecycleMania and achieved public recognition for their leadership in everyday sustainable practices.
“The residential dining program was upgraded with new healthy options like Veggie Bowl and the increase of made-to-order options.”
In addition, the team was cited for its support of community events, such as the Food Bank of Delaware Turkey Drive, and for its focus on safety through high standards and safety audits.
District Chef Rob LoFurno, who will play a key role in dining services during the Summer Olympics in Beijing, was recognized for his Veggie Bowl innovation. Students select their desired vegetables and no-meat proteins, which are cooked in broth at the station, served with rice or noodles and topped with one of six flavored sauces chosen by the student.
UD Dining Services also was the runner-up in safety efforts.
