5:19 p.m., Sept. 24, 2007--The College of Arts and Sciences welcomed 25 new faculty members with a reception at the Courtyard Newark-University of Delaware hotel, Thursday evening, Sept. 20.

New faculty and spouses mingled and met one another and veteran UD colleagues in one of the hotel's meeting rooms.

Tom Apple, dean of the college, told the gathering, “You are a great group,” and promised to make their time at UD “the best days of your life. We are thrilled to have you here,” he said.

Later, Apple said, "This is an impressive group of new faculty that represent the future leaders of the college. They will transform our students' lives through their scholarly work and their teaching. We welcome them and their partners and spouses to the University of Delaware community."
