$20,000 grant to support art history symposium

4:01 p.m., Oct. 23, 2007--Wendy Bellion and Monica Dominguez, assistant professors in the Department of Art History, have been awarded a $20,000 grant by the Terra Foundation for American Art in Chicago.

The grant will provide support for a symposium, "Objects in Motion: Art and Material Culture across Colonial North America," scheduled for April at Clayton Hall.

It is one of the largest grants ever given by the Terra Foundation to support a symposium. The foundation board considered the grant proposal so timely and compelling that it made the award out of cycle.

“Apparently, it was the cross-cultural/international dimensions of the symposium that especially appealed to the review committee,” Bellion said.
