Recital by percussionist Ben Toth slated Nov. 19

4:36 p.m., Nov. 16, 2007--UD's Department of Music will present a recital by Ben Toth, director of the percussion program at The Hartt School, University of Hartford, at 8 p.m., Monday, Nov. 19, in the Gore Recital Hall of the Louise and David Roselle Center for the Arts.

Toth has has presented concerts and recitals, appeared on radio and
television broadcasts and conducted master classes and children's programs throughout Europe and the United States, as well as in Brazil, Hong Kong, Japan and Trinidad. He has amassed more than 25 years of experience performing, directing and arranging for steel drum bands, including a five-week residency in Trinidad, where he performed in the 2000 Panorama, Trinidad National Steel Band Competition, with Robert Greenidge and the 80-member "Solo Pan Knights.”

Toth has served on the faculty of the University of Cincinnati's College-Conservatory of Music. He holds a bachelor's degree in percussion performance and jazz studies from the University of Akron, and a master's degree from the University of Illinois.

Admission is $12 for adults, $8 for seniors, UD staff and alumni and $3 for students. Tickets may be purchased at the door or in advance at the Trabant University Center or Bob Carpenter box offices on UD campus.
