Charles Elson, Edgar S. Woolard Jr. Chair and director of the John L. Weinberg Center for Corporate Governance, was quoted in a May 9 Charlotte Observer story about the ouster of Wachovia's chief executive as chairman. Elson also was quoted in a May 8 Philadelphia Inquirer story about Charming Shoppes, a May 6 News Journal story about Delaware corporate law, a May 6 Dow Jones Newswires story and a May 5 MarketWatch story about Yahoo, and a May 5 Washington Post story on the loss of steam in the “say on pay” movement that is designed to provide shareholders more input on executive compensation.

Ian Appelbaum, assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering, was featured in a May 7 iTnews Australia article for his work in spintronics. Asked by reporter Liz Tay what drew him to the study of spintronics, Appelbaum said, “This is a new field where several fundamental challenges were, and still are, begging for solutions. The opportunity to personally make an impact on a field which has the potential to transform technology, and have fun doing it, really excited me.”

Janice A. Seitz, director of UD's Cooperative Extension Service and associate dean in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, William Saylor, professor of animal and foods sciences, David Hansen, associate professor of plant and soil sciences, Greg Binford, associate professor of plant and soil sciences, and J. Thomas Sims, the Thomas A. Baker Professor of Plant and Soil Sciences and associate dean of UD's College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, were cited in a May 6 American Farm story about agricultural nutrient management in the state.

Joe Flacco, Fightin' Blue Hens quarterback selected in the first round of the National Football League draft by the Baltimore Ravens, was featured in a May 5 story in the Baltimore Sun.

Janis Tomlinson, director of University Museums, was quoted in a May 3 Washington Times story about an exhibition of Goya paintings at the Prado Museum in Madrid.

Ximena Uribe-Zarain, a researcher in the Delaware Education Research and Development Center, and Dariel Janerette, a graduate research assistant, were cited in an April 18 News Journal story about their analysis of Delaware State Testing Program scores.
