McDonald, a junior, cleared 12 feet, 6.5 inches for the victory and the record. Her vault broke the previous UD outdoor record of 12 feet, 6 inches set in 2004 by Casey Bennett.
Also for the Delaware women's team, Alex Francis was second in the 100 meters (12.89) and 200 meters (26.23) and seventh in the javelin (99-0), Leah Putman was third in the long jump (17-4.75) and fifth in the triple jump (35-2.5), and Kellyn Wright was 11th in the 800 meters (2:16.94).
Also at the meet, UD freshman Jeremy Simkins won the men's 400-meter hurdles in a time of 53.71.
John Viotto was third in the discus (132-5) and fourth in the shot put (47-10), Ross Shober was third in the long jump (21-4.25) and fifth in the 100 meters (11.28), Conrad Rapp was third in the pole vault (15-3), and Will Jurkowski was sixth in the 800 meters with the second fastest time in school history (1:52.48), Jake Cohen and George Vallone tied for eighth in the pole vault (13-9.25), and Brad Dodson was eighth in the 1,500 meters (3:56.67).
On Saturday, the Blue Hens swept the men's pole vault and won the hammer throw at the Philadelphia Masters Track and Field Association open meet held at Widener University in Chester, Pa.
Jake Cohen won the pole vault at 13 feet, 6 inches, George Vallone finished second at 13 feet and Steve Theroux finished third at 12 feet, 6 inches.
Dave Schwartz won the hammer with a throw of 163 feet, 7 inches.
The Blue Hens will compete at the IC4A and ECAC championships this weekend at Princeton University.
