11:39 a.m., May 21, 2008--Students moving out of a UD or off-campus residence who have items that they no longer need shouldn't simply throw them out in the nearest trash bin. Instead, bring the items to the “UDon't Need It” Student Move Out site located at 225 Paper Mill Road, Newark, Del.
The 2008 “UDon't Need It” Student Move Out Project site will open from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Thursday, May 22, through Thursday, June 5.

“The Project provides an easy way for departing UD students to donate, rather than just throw away, reusable home goods, furnishings, clothing and nonperishable foods,” said Deb Hoff, assistant University secretary.
“Last year's project, with the aid of partners Green Delaware Recycling and Ministry of Caring, diverted approximately 64 tons of materials from local landfills, and redirected reusable furniture and household goods to more than 50 needy families in our area.”
Last year's project also saw 1,500 pounds of nonperishable foods donated to project partner Food Bank of Delaware and 4,500 pounds of clothing, shoes and bedding materials donated to project partner Planet Aid.
"UDon't Need It" is sponsored by the Newark Town and Gown Committee, UD and the city of Newark and is a great way to get rid of stuff students no longer need while helping both the environment and the people in the community.
