10:16 a.m., May 6, 2008--As the end of the semester approaches, activities on campus may seem a bit more hectic. Give yourself a break.
From 12:05-12:55 p.m., Monday, May 12, the Employee Wellness Center presents its annual humor lecture--this year it's "Don't Lose Sleep Over a Bad Memory,” at the Bacchus Theatre in the Perkins Student Center.
This year's workshop features Joel Weintraub, who combines professional comedy experience with his degrees in physiology and health education to entertain and educate employees on how to improve sleep and eating habits, memory and time management skills.
"Research shows that laughter has some amazing health benefits. Laughing can relieve stress, increase pain tolerance and support the immune system", says Kathy Corbitt, director of UD's Employee Wellness Center.
Employees are welcome to bring their lunches. Beverages and dessert will be provided, and one lucky attendee will win a pair of tickets to the Candlelight Dinner Theatre's May 18 performance of West Side Story. Cost is 10 Wellness Dollars. The event is co-sponsored by the Office of Human Resources, the Faculty and Staff Assistance Program and the Employee Wellness Center.
