Six students recognized for academic achievement

7 p.m., May 31, 2008--Six students in the University of Delaware's Class of 2008 were recognized for achieving the highest cumulative grade index-4.0-in full-time study for a baccalaureate degree at the University during Commencement on May 31.

Recognized at the ceremony by Robert A. Fischer Jr., vice chairman of the University's Board of Trustees, were

  • Ben Aaron of Wilmington, Del., who received the Honors bachelor of arts degree in anthropology with a minor in theatre;
  • Carol Cipriani of Philadelphia, who received the Honors bachelor of science degree in elementary teacher education;
  • Brian Grindel of Claymont, Del., who receive a bachelor of science degree in biological sciences;
  • Patrick Knerr of Emmaus, Pa., who received the Honors bachelor of science degree in biochemistry, with a minor in philosophy;
  • Rosie Seagraves of Milford, Del., who received the Honors bachelor of arts degree, with majors in English and foreign languages and literatures; and
  • Andrew Volk of Wilmington, Del., who received the bachelor of science degree in biological sciences.

To be eligible for this award, graduating seniors must have earned at least 75 percent of the total credits required for the degree at UD and must have averaged a minimum of 15 credits per semester.
