Video conference on ag carbon trading set May 20

3:53 p.m., May 14, 2008--The University of Delaware Elbert N. and Ann V. Carvel Research and Education Center in Georgetown, Del. will broadcast “Carbon Trading: Market Opportunities for Agriculture” from 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 20.

The workshop will explore the development and current status of the complex and still changing carbon-trading market.

The workshop--presented by Central New York Resource Conservation and Development Inc. (CNY RC&D) and broadcast live from the Cornell Cooperative Extension Albany County office in Voorheesville, N.Y.--will give agricultural educators a basic understanding of the complexities of carbon trading, while providing a set of tools to educate farmers and landowners about carbon trading.

This workshop is geared primarily extension agents, soil and water conservation district staff, USDA staff and nonprofit agricultural educators, and is open to landowners and farmers as well.

Interested individuals must register for the broadcast online at [http://agcarbontrading.org]. The workshop is free but is limited to 40 attendees at the Carvel Center.

Funding for developing the materials and holding the workshop has been provided through a Professional Development grant from Northeast Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (NESARE).

The workshop is brought to viewers in Delaware through a partnership between the First State Resource Conservation and Development Council and the University of Delaware Cooperative Extension.
