Suspects sought for Main Street assault
4:53 p.m., May 19, 2008--Newark Police are attempting to identify and locate four suspects in an assault that occurred at about 9 p.m., Thursday, May 8, near the Ali Baba restaurant on Main Street. The investigation indicates that the two groups first encountered each other at the Burger King on South Chapel Street shortly before the assault.

During the incident, three persons were attacked by the four suspects and engaged in a fight. One victim was treated for a laceration made by a box cutter. All four suspects, three males and one female, are believed to be between 15 and 19 years of age.

Police have obtained photos of the suspects taken earlier in the evening at Burger King. The person believed to be responsible for inflicting the laceration using a box cutter is a heavyset man with braided hair who was wearing a white shirt with blue stripes. Two other male suspects wearing black clothes and a female wearing black clothes and a white head covering also are believed to have been involved in the assault.
