UD women’s lacrosse defeats Virginia Tech
UD senior attack Casey McCrudden had two goals in the victory over Virginia Tech.
9:22 a.m., March 24, 2008--The University of Delaware women's lacrosse team defeated Virginia Tech 8-7 in a game played Sunday afternoon in Blacksburg, Va.

With the victory, the Fightin' Blue Hens improved to 5-2 on the season. It is UD's best start since the 2000 team opened with seven straight wins.

The Blue Hens will return to action with a home game against Penn State at 3 p.m., Friday, March 28, at Rullo Stadium.

In the closely fought game against Virginia Tech, senior attack Casey McCrudden led the Hens with two goals. Emily Schaknowski and Katie Muth both had one goal and one assist, and Julianna Jeffers, Alexis Curcio, Courtney Aburn and Brittany Davis also scored for the Hens.

UD goalkeeper Jessica Cerveny had seven saves.

The Hens built an 8-5 lead, with Davis scoring what proved to be the winner, then held off a late Virginia Tech rally.
