1:20 p.m., March 7, 2008--Artist Evelyn Garcia of the University of Puerto Rico Mayaguez will visit the University of Delaware and give a public presentation about printmaking in Puerto Rico at 6 p.m., Wednesday, March 12, in Room 101 Recitation Hall.
The artist also will conduct printmaking workshops for UD art students on Monday, March 10, and Wednesday, March 12.
The visit is part of an initiative with the University of Puerto Rico Mayaguez through the Provost's Office.
Garcia was born in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, and received her bachelor's degree from the Mayaguez campus in 1973 and her master of fine arts degree in printmaking from the Universidad Nacional Autonoma in Mexico City in 1975.
She is a professor at the Mayaguez campus, where she teaches printmaking, drawing, painting, art education and art design. At the same time she continues working as a printmaker artist and has participated in various art exhibitions in both Puerto Rico and New York.
