By selecting the appropriate option on the P.O. Box “Preferences” page, faculty can now send HTML-formatted messages to groups of students. The sender will see an editor window that looks like many word processor windows and can use WYSIWG features (e.g., text you mark as bold appears as bold text in the editing window). In addition, depending on the Web browser used, faculty can cut and paste or drag and drop Web content into the HTML editor for inclusion in the P.O. Box message.
Another new feature is the “Fireback” option. The administrator for a list can choose to turn this feature on from the “List Options” page. Fireback allows students reading a message on the P.O. Box server to post a comment or response to that message. The comment will be visible to others who visit the list's messages on the P.O. Box server but will not go out as e-mail to list members.
Information about these two new options is available at [www.udel.edu/topics/pobox/advanced.html].
In addition, IT-User Services has released a Consulting on Demand video about the P.O. Box service. The video covers the basics of sending and reading P.O. Box messages, and answers the most-frequently-asked question about the service: “How do I add my T.A. or others to my P.O. Box class list?”
