UDance AIDS/HIV fundraiser slated April 13
4:35 p.m., March 14, 2008--The second annual UDance fundraiser, a 12-hour philanthropic dance marathon, will begin at 11 a.m., Sunday, April 13. The event is intended to raise money for AIDS issues around the world and encourage diversity and unity in the UD community.

Participants in the UDance marathon will dance, sing and perform throughout the day. Musicians, celebrities and families that have benefited from AIDS research and treatments will be present to encourage dancers, who will stay on their feet for the full 12 hours to symbolize the mental and physical challenges faced by individuals affected by AIDS.

This year's proceeds will benefit the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, a world leader in pediatric AIDS research and treatment. The foundation's goal is to prevent pediatric HIV infections and to eradicate pediatric AIDS through research, advocacy, and prevention and treatment programs. The organization supports pediatric AIDS research, funds care centers in developing countries around the world and brings hope to families living with HIV and AIDS.

The marathon, hosted by the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity and the Alpha Epsilon Phi sorority, raised more than $9,000 last year to help support AIDS programs. This year, through marathon sponsors and online donations, they hope to raise more than $11,000.
