The Liberty Bell Classic features college teams from the greater Philadelphia area.
UD junior second baseman Kyle Davis led the offensive explosion, getting four hits in six trips to the plate, including a grand slam home run. He finished with six runs batted in and scored a run.
Freshman left fielder Pat Dameron also had four hits, including a home run, drove in three runs and scored three runs. Other Blue Hens with multiple hits were junior Jared Olson and freshman Todd Menchaca, with two each.
Delaware used six pitchers and freshman Alex Dalsey picked up his first win of the season. The staff allowed 11 hits but gave up just two runs, only one of which was earned.
With the victory, the Blue Hens improved to 7-14 on the season. They will resume action with a Colonial Athletic Association series at the College of William and Mary Friday through Sunday, March 28-30. Game times are 7 p.m. Friday, 4 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday.
The next Liberty Bell Classic game will be played Tuesday, April 1, with the opponent, time and place to be determined.
