3:02 p.m., Jan. 28, 2008--The UD Children's Choir is currently seeking new members. To be eligible, singers must be currently in grades 2-8 and have treble (unchanged) voices. Auditions are slated for 6:45 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 5, in Room 118 of the Amy E. DuPont Music Building. Prospective members are welcome to join the choir for pizza and rehearsal at 5 p.m., with auditions to follow.
The choir meets weekly on Tuesday evenings from 5:15-6:45 p.m. to learn to sing with a pure tone and rhythmic accuracy. Rehearsals typically start with a singing game and then continue with the learning of diverse repertoire including lullabies, processionals, folk songs and spirituals in many languages.
Upcoming events for the choir include an appearance at the “K is for Kids” exhibition at Winterthur Museum in April, as well as a spring concert in May. Additional auditions will take place in May.
Linda Wardell, a music teacher and UD graduate is the choir founder and director. More information can be found at [http://cms.music.udel.edu/childrenschoir.html]. Wardell can be reached at [lwardell@udel.edu].
