Karen Rosenberg, chairperson of the Department of Anthropology, was quoted in a Dec. 13 story in The New York Times concerning research about childbirth and evolutionary changes in the spines of women.

Kimmie Meissner, UD freshman and defending national figure skating champion, was featured in a Dec. 13 story in the Baltimore Sun and in a widely-circulated Associated Press story in advance of the Grand Prix final in Turin, Italy, where she finished sixth in the 2006 Winter Olympics. Also, Meissner was a guest on NBC's Today Show on Dec. 7, with Meredith Vieira conducting the interview and Kimmie skating on the Rockefeller Center ice rink.

Charles Elson, Edgar S. Woolard Jr. Chair and director of the John L. Weinberg Center for Corporate Governance, was quoted in a Dec. 12 story in the Wall Street Journal that looked at large bonuses in light of business busts. Elson also was quoted in a Dec. 11 Associated Press story about a settlement by the chief executive officers of UnitedHealth Group and a Dec. 4 Detroit Free Press story about spending by airport executives there. He also was on NPR's All Things Considered program Dec. 4, commenting on Wall Street economists.

Robin Morgan, dean of the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, was quoted in a Dec. 12 News Journal story about efforts in the state to reduce the energy footprint. Morgan discussed a solar-powered chicken house, in which UD is partnering with Allen Family Foods.

James (Cole) Galloway, associate professor of physical therapy, and Sunil Agrawal, professor of mechanical engineering, were featured in a Dec. 11 Washington Post story about their work on robots that help children with disabilities explore the world. The story featured a large photograph taken by Kathy Atkinson of UD Public Relations.

Beth Morling, associate professor of psychology, was quoted in a Dec. 10 Washington Post column about self-esteem.

Craig Cary, professor of marine and earth studies, was quoted in stories in the Dec. 9 Tampa Tribune and the Dec. 5 Baltimore Sun about research on ancient microbes in Antarctic ice samples at least 1 million years old.

Ed Ratledge, director of the Center for Applied Demography and Survey Research, was quoted in a Dec. 9 News Journal story about a wind power contract.

Tracy Hudson, student teaching specialist in the Center for Secondary Teacher Education, was quoted in a Dec. 9 News Journal story about UD professional development programs for teachers in Kent and Sussex counties.

Roberta Michnick Golinkoff, H. Rodney Sharp Chair in Human Services, Education and Public Policy, wrote an opinion piece in the Dec. 9 News Journal about how parents should turn away from “technotoys” and provide their children books and imaginative play.

Jean Pfaelzer, professor of English, was featured in a book review in the Dec. 8 Chicago Tribune. Pfaelzer is author of the work Driven Out: The Forgotten War Against Chinese Americans, which recently was named one of the 100 notable books of the year by The New York Times.

Gerald Kauffman, director of the Water Resources Agency in the Institute for Public Administration, was quoted in a Dec. 5 News Journal story on changes in storm severity.

Willett Kempton, associate professor of marine and earth studies, was featured in a Dec. 4 New Scientist story on electric cars that can return power to the grid, a technology known as vehicle to grid or V2G.

Ruth Flexman, program coordinator, and members of the Academy of Lifelong Learning were featured on WHYY-TV's Delaware Tonight program on Dec. 4.

Ian Appelbaum, assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering, was featured in a November issue of the Berliner Zeitung for his work in spintronics.
