Prestigious publications recognize Prof. Pfaelzer’s 'Driven Out'
2:59 p.m., Dec. 19, 2007--Driven Out: The Forgotten War Against Chinese Americans by Jean Pfaelzer, University of Delaware professor of English, has received recognition on several prestigious lists at year's end.

Driven Out was named one of the 100 Notable Books of the Year by The New York Times, one of Choice magazine's top academic books of the year, and one of The Bloomsbury Review's favorite books of the year.

Published by Random House, Driven Out looks at the brutal and systematic attacks on Chinese Americans and the Pacific Northwest that began in 1848 and continued through the second half of the 19th century. The book also discusses the ways that Chinese Americans fought back.

Choice is the official review publication of the Association of College and Research Libraries and is considered, along with The New York Times Book Review, the most influential publication for acquisition decisions by North American academic libraries.
