Darrin Pochan, associate professor of materials science and engineering, was cited in an Aug. 6 Chemical and Engineering News story about research on nanostructures. The work was reported in the Aug. 3 issue of Science.

Charles Elson, Edgar S. Woolard Jr. Chair and director of the John L. Weinberg Center for Corporate Governance, was quoted in an Aug. 6 Financial Week story about a General Accounting Office report on Institutional Shareholder Services. Also, Elson was quoted in an Aug. 2 Houston Chronicle story on financial negotiations by Landry's Restaurants, an Aug. 2 Wall Street Journal story on Chiquita and a July 31 Reuters story on a Dow Jones director.

James Falk, director of the Delaware Sea Grant Marine Advisory Service, was quoted in an Aug. 6 News Journal story about evacuation plans for the Delaware beaches.

Following the collapse of a major bridge in Minneapolis, Michael Chajes, chairperson of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, and Harry W. “Tripp” Shenton, associate professor of civil and environmental engineering, were quoted widely. Shenton was quoted in the Aug. 2 USA Today and the Aug. 5 News Journal and Chajes on WDEL-AM and WHYY-TV's Delaware Tonight program, both Aug. 2. Also, Chajes was quoted in a July 31 Oregonian story about civil engineering jobs going unfilled.

David Smith, associate professor of biological sciences, was cited in an Aug. 5 Detroit Free Press column for his work with baseball information through the online Retrosheet project.

Christiana Honsberg, associate professor of electrical and computer engineering, and Robert Birkmire, director of the Institute of Energy Conversion, were quoted in an Aug. 3 Science story about an innovative solar cell research project led by Honsberg and Allen Barnett, professor of electrical and computer engineering. Honsberg also was quoted in a story on the project in the Aug. 2 EE Times.

Edward Ratledge, director of the Center for Applied Demography and Survey Research, was quoted in an Aug. 2 News Journal story about a report on the need for fiscal changes in the state given the growing number of older residents.

William Saylor, professor of animal and food sciences, was featured in an Aug. 1 report by WTOP radio in Washington, D.C., for his research on environmentally friendly diets for chickens.

Charles Epifanio, professor of marine and earth studies and associate dean of the College of Marine and Earth Studies, was quoted in an Aug. 1 Cherry Hill (N.J.) Courier-Post story on the appearance of the Chinese mitten crab in local waters.

Michele Welch was quoted in an Aug. 1 News Journal story about a new UD certificate program in clinical trials management.

Alice Ba, associate professor of political science and international relations, appeared April 27 on China Central Television's Dialogue program to discuss Japanese Prime Minister Abe's visit to the United States.
