9:47 a.m., April 21, 2008--The University of Delaware men's lacrosse team defeated Robert Morris University 20-5 in a Colonial Athletic Association game played Saturday afternoon at Rullo Stadium.

With the victory, the Fightin' Blue Hens improved to 9-5 overall and 3-2 in the CAA. They can clinch a spot in the conference championship tournament with a victory over host Sacred Heart University on Saturday, April 26. Game time is 1 p.m.

The Blue Hens are not out of the picture for a home conference playoff game. A UD win over Sacred Heart combined with a win by Villanova University over Drexel University would clinch second place and a tournament game at Rullo Stadium.

The Robert Morris game was the 511th for UD Head Coach Bob Shillinglaw, a new NCAA all-divisions record. Shillinglaw is now 273-238 in his 33rd season as a college head coach and he ranked fourth on the active coaching wins list.

UD's Martin Cahill had three goals and three assists in the victory over Robert Morris, and Vincent Giordano had three goals and one assist. Cam Howard, Curtis Dickson, Beau Davis, Pat Lombard, John Austin and D.J. Widlake scored two goals each for the Hens, and Mark Steverson and Rob Bassett scored one goal each.

UD goalkeeper Tom Scherr had 12 saves and Warren Mayberry had three.
