Weinberg Center for Corporate Governance, was quoted in a Sept. 29 New York Times story about the unfolding problems at Hewlett Packard as its general counsel resigned and declined to answer questions before the House Committee on Energy and Commerce. Elson also was quoted about Hewlett Packard in the Washington Post and Bloomberg News both Sept. 28 and Sept. 23. He was quoted in a Sept. 29 Bloomberg News story about the resignation of a Gannett board members and in a Sept. 25 Christian Science Monitor story on corporate spying. Joseph Pika, professor of political science and international relations, was quoted in a Sept. 25 News Journal story about the possible political ramifications following a stroke suffered by U.S. Rep. Michael N. Castle (R-Del.) David Smith, associate professor of biological sciences and founder of the online baseball statistics service Retrosheet, was quoted in a Sept. 25 San Diego Union-Tribune story about the “saves” statistics kept for relief pitchers. Benigno Aguirre, professor of sociology, was quoted in a Sept. 24 News Journal story on election politics and the immigration issue. Michael Gamel-McCormick, professor of individual and family studies and director of UD's Center for Disability Studies, was cited in a Sept. 24 News Journal story on corporations and employees with cognitive and developmental disabilities. Also, he was cited in a Sept. 23 Virgin Island Daily News story on a meeting at the University of the Virgin Islands for directors of disability studies centers. Mike Adams, former UD football player now a starting safety for the NFL's San Francisco 49ers, was featured in a Sept. 22 story in the San Francisco Chronicle. “I'm not supposed to be here,” Adams, who played on UD's 2003 NCAA Division I-AA national championship team said of his unlikely rise from undrafted free agent to starter. "This is a blessing, and I'm going to ride until the wheels fall off." |
