UD sets memorial service for John Munroe Oct. 15

Editor's Note: (11:30 a.m., Oct. 5): The location of the memorial service for John A. Munroe has been changed to the Puglisi Orchestra Hall of the Center for the Arts.

3:37 p.m., Oct. 3, 2006--A memorial service for John A. Munroe, the late H. Rodney Sharp Professor Emeritus of History, will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 15, in the Puglisi Orchestra Hall of the Center for the Arts. The event is open to the public.

Dr. Munroe, one of Delaware's best-known and most respected historians, died Sept. 6. He was 92. A member of the University of Delaware faculty for more than 60 years, Dr. Munroe was widely recognized as the foremost authority on Delaware history

A native of Wilmington, he earned his bachelor's and master's degrees at UD in 1936 and 1941, respectively.
