’Love Your Body Day’ slated Oct. 18

1:33 p.m., Oct. 13, 2006--The Office of Women's Affairs, Wellspring and UD's Faculty and Staff
Assistance Program will present “Love Your Body Day” from 10 a.m-9 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 18, at various locations on the Newark campus.

All events are free and open to the public:

  • An information fair, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., in the Perkins Student Center lobby, exploring ways to be active and learn about issues including body image, size, disordered eating, drug and alcohol consumption and stress management;
  • Food for Thought: Weight and Body Image Issues, from noon-1 p.m., in 209/211 Trabant University Center, presented by Wendy Cramer, professional relations representative with the Renfrew Center, with lunch provided by UD's Faculty and Staff Assistance Program.   • Baby Got Back Again, from 3-4 p.m., Multipurpose Room B, Trabant University Center, a presentation on standards of beauty and fashion for women throughout different eras and cultures by Cynthia Diefenbeck and Karen Tsukada, psychologists with UD's Center for Counseling and Student Development;
  • Staying in Touch: Breast Cancer Awareness, from 5 p.m.-6:30 p.m., Multipurpose Room B, Trabant University Center, presented by Angela Roycht, Kari Miehle, Dawn Thomas and Sharon Pharr, Delaware Technical and Community College; and
  • Workshops in Belly-Dancing and Yoga, will cap the day in Multipurpose Room B of the Trabant University Center, with belly-dancing taught by Almaaza, a veteran Middle Eastern dance performer, from 7-8 p.m., and an introduction to yoga taught by instructor Eleanor Mazzio, from 8-9 p.m.
