International cuisine featured Nov. 12-17

2:48 p.m., Nov. 8, 2006--In conjunction with International Education Week at UD, which runs Nov. 12-17, the Blue and Gold Club, The Scrounge in the Perkins Student Center and several dining halls across campus are offering special internationally themed meals and ethnic dishes during lunch and dinner. Following are some highlights of the week.

On Monday, Nov. 13, during lunch, The Scrounge will feature manicotti and chicken parmesan and the Blue and Gold Club will offer an Asian lunch buffet from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. that includes pork in ginger sauce and sesame-crusted tuna.

During dinner, Kent Dining Hall will highlight cuisine from Down Under, with an “Australian Bobby Dazzler” that will feature specialties prepared by a guest chef from Matilda's Restaurant.

On Tuesday, Nov. 14, during lunch, Rodney Dining Hall will highlight “street foods of Greece” and the Blue and Gold Club will feature an Italian lunch buffet from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. that includes chicken parmesan and penne pasta carbonara.

“Oh, Canada” will be the theme during dinner at Pencader Dining Hall, while The Scrounge will feature a French Caribbean theme with a croque monsieur sandwich.

On Wednesday, Nov. 15, during lunch, Kent Dining Hall will offer a French “peasant's lunch,” The Scrounge will feature chicken cordon bleu and zucchini quiche and the Blue and Gold Club will offer a German lunch buffet from 11:30-1:30 p.m. that features roast pork with apples and sauerkraut and pan-seared salmon with tarragon leek sauce.

During dinner, Russell Dining Hall will feature cuisine with an Asian flair that will include sushi specialties prepared by a guest sushi chef.

On Thursday, Nov. 16, during lunch at Pencader Dining Hall, insalata Italiana will be the theme, while the Blue and Gold Club will offer a Mediterranean/Greek lunch buffet from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. featuring Mediterranean chicken and grilled butterflied leg of lamb with rosemary mint sauce.

At dinner, the Rodney Dining Hall will go Pan African and The Scrounge will feature Cuban cuisine with its cubana sandwich.

Friday, Nov. 17, will close out International Week with a lunchtime Bavarian fest at Russell Dining Hall, Greek roasted leg of lamb and spinach casserole at The Scrounge and an Irish lunch buffet from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at the Blue and Gold Club that features roasted salmon with a whisky cider sauce and shepherds pie.

Additionally during International Week, the Food Court at the Trabant University Center will offer Jamaican jerk wings, crunchy Asian chicken salad, Italian sausage heroes and international pizzas.

Ethnic restaurants Matilda's and Star of India also are participating in the festivities by honoring coupons during International Week. The coupons for a variety of selections at both restaurants can be picked up at the Center for International Studies at 186 South College Avenue.
