Sign up now for UD Outdoor Pool memberships
3:44 p.m., May 7, 2007--The sign-up period for UD Outdoor Pool memberships is under way. Potential members can sign up on line and pay with a credit card or register in person from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. at the Fred Rust Ice Arena.

Reasonably priced and conveniently located for summer fun, the Outdoor Pool is a sure way to beat the heat. The Outdoor Pool is located behind the Gold Ice Arena and, at 50 meters, is the largest pool in the state. There are fun pool slides and water temperature is always kept at a comfortable 80 degrees. A fenced-in baby pool holds just six inches of water for little tykes. Members have access to shower and changing facilities, a snack shop and dining area. There also are designated hours for lap swimming every day. There are 250 chaise lounge chairs on the pool deck.

Cost is $260 for a family membership. This price covers the first four members of a family and there is a $10 charge for each additional member. Individual memberships are $140 each and are available to persons at least 13 years of age. A parent or guardian must sign the membership papers for persons under the age of 18.

Prices for UD employees are $130 for individual memberships and $235 per family. Additionally, any UD employee can use the pool for a charge of $5 per day with a valid I.D.

The pool is available free of charge to undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in Summer Session and available at a rate of $3 per day to undergraduate and graduate students not enrolled for summer.

The 2007 season begins with an opening day party on Sunday, May 27 and ends with a special grandparents day event on Sunday, Sept. 9.
