Students invited to contribute to food drive

2:44 p.m., May 18, 2007--For nearly a decade, UD's Wesley Foundation Campus Ministry, together with Newark United Methodist Church and Newark Area Welfare, have collected unopened, nonperishable food that UD students have left over at the end of the school year. Several tons of food have been gathered each year during spring semester finals week. It is then sorted and distributed through various Newark Area Welfare Food Closets.

That includes the food closet at Newark United Methodist Church, where not a day goes by that multiple persons in need of food for themselves or their families are served, thanks in part to the annual food drive in UD's dorms.

From Friday, May 18-Friday, May 25, boxes will placed in the common areas (near the mailboxes) in each of the residence halls so that students can make contributions of their nonperishable food items. The food donations will be collected daily through Friday, May 25.
