6:26 p.m., May 4, 2007--Chijoke (Justin) Ofuani, 23, of the unit block of Brookfield Drive, Newark, has been arrested and charged with three counts of receiving stolen property after an investigation by University of Delaware Police.
At approximately 9 a.m., Thursday, May 3, University Police executed a search warrant at his residence at Brookfield Townhomes in Bear, Del., assisted by the New Castle County Police. The search warrant was obtained in an investigation into a stolen laptop computer that had been sold via an online auction service.
As a result of the search warrant, five laptop computers and an iPod were recovered at the residence, all of which previously had been reported as stolen from apartments in Christiana Towers at the University. The thefts had been reported between May 2006 and April 19, 2007.
Ofuani was arraigned and bail set at $2,500 secured, by J.P. Court #2. Additional arrest charges are pending. He is not a UD student.
University of Delaware Police continue to investigate several burglaries and thefts that have been reported at the Christiana Towers and ask that anyone with information on the defendant, or his known associates, contact Det. Haug, at (302) 831-2683.
